We believe that parents are happier when looked after by their children in their own homes but there are so many elders who don’t have cared for by anyone due to several reasons. We treat them with the utmost respect, compassion, and dignity that they are so deserving of. Out of them, there are a few having psychological disabilities also. We do everything we can do to elevate their quality of life!
Our experienced staff and the facility located in a residential neighborhood provide a unique atmosphere of a home-like environment for these helpless elders. All the services are provided free of charge and we are presently not funded by any other organization, foreign body or government of Sri Lanka. It is having 7 staff members to assist all the activities and receive food donations from the community island-wide.

Endowed with these principles of these excellence qualities, Sugatha Elders’ Home was founded with a few Elders, some 20 years ago and has helped nearly one hundred elderly persons and become the most powerful Welfare Center in Bentota area.
Mr. Cyril Rajapaksha has been acting as the Chief Manager with dedication since the inception of this Welfare center and should be appreciated very much, the reason for this being that he gets endless of allegations.
Although Sugatha Elders’ Home was established as a Welfare center for the elders, it has become an Institute which gives shelter and assistance to those who require special needs today. But the Management has to face numerous difficulties, should deserve the support of Donors, Philanthropists, and well-wishers.
This social service has been continued amidst numerous difficulties and obstacles up to now. May the Tripple-Gem bless and give strength and encouragement for the management including staff members to render the services continuously without any troubles or inconveniences further.

With the man landing on the moon, he has been enjoying the first fruit of the most modern technology at the maximum level while the Humanity has been deteriorating as a result. We have seen through media the way that some parents are being deserted on haihways, they are imprisoned and chained in some houses, Parents are not given due place or respect what a pet-dog gets.
During this era Sugatha Elders’ home has been rendering a great service for 88 inmates, thereby accumulating merits, I know very well a great person like Mr.Cyril Rajapaksha who has been giving leadership to this elder home with courage, sacrifice, and bravely despite the unlimited sufferings and difficulties he faces, in the discharge of duty.

පූජාච පූජනීයං – පිදිය යුත්තන් පුදමු.
මේ ලෝකයේ සියළු මව්පියෝ අපගේ දෙමව්පියෝ ය. එ අය රැකබලාගැනීම, පෝෂණය කිරීම හා දේවත්වයෙන් සැලකීම වැනි කරුණු සිහියේ තබාගෙන බෙන්තොට, සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයේ නිර්මාතෘ සහ සභාපති ගරු සිරිල් රාජපක්ෂ මැතිතුමා වසර 20 කාලයක් තිස්සේ සිදුකරන මෙම මහඟු කාර්යය මිලකළ නොහැකි පිංකමකි. එදා මෙදා තුර පුරා විසි වසරක කාලය තුළ මෙම වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයත් සමග අත්වැල් බැඳගෙන සිටින්නේ මෙම සද්කාර්ය එතුමා විසින් නිසි කළමනාකරණයකින් පවත්වාගෙන යාම නිසා බවද මෙහිදී සඳහන් කරමි.
ඉදිරියටත් මෙම සද්කාර්ය සිදුකර ගෙන යාමට සිරිල් රාජපක්ෂ මැතිතුමා ඇතුළු කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයත්, නන් අයුරින් උදව් උපකාර කරමින් සිටින් පිංවත් ඔබටත් නිරෝගී සුවයත්, ධෛර්ය ශක්තියත් නිරතුරු ලැබේවායි මේ අවස්ථාවේදී පුණ්‍යානුමෝදනා කරමි.

මිනිසා සඳමතට පා තබනවාත් සමගම නවීන තාක්ෂණයට තව තවත් මංපෙත් විවර විය. මේ වනවිට මිනිසා එහි අග්‍ර ඵලය බෙහෙවින් බුක්ති විඳිමින් සිටී. එමෙන්ම මිනිසාගේ මනුස්සකමද මේ ඔස්සේ පිරිහීයමින් පවතී. හදාවඩාගත් තම ආදරණීය මව්පියන් මහමග අතහැරදමා යන්නේ ද එහි අතුරු ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙසිනි. ඇතැම් නිවෙස්වල සුරතල් සුනඛයාට ලැබෙන තැන වයෝවෘද්ධ තම මව්පියන්ට නොලැබෙන අවස්ථා මෙන්ම යදම්වලින් බැඳ තබා ඇති අවස්ථාත් ජනමාධ්‍ය මගින් අප කොතෙකුත් දැක අසා ඇත.
එවන් යුගයක බෙන්තොට සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසය හව්හරණක් අහිමි දෙමව්පියන්ට රැකවරණය දෙමින් මහා පිං කන්දරාවක් රැස්කරගනිමින් ඊට නායකත්වය සපයන සිරිල් රාජපක්ෂ නම් වූ යුග පුරුෂයා ගැන සිහිපත් කළ යුතුයි. අසීමිත දුක් කන්දරාවක් සහ දුෂ්කර වූ බාධක හමුවේ නොසැලෙමින්, සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසය අද පවතින තැනට ඔසවා තබන්නට සිරිල් රාජපක්ෂ මැතිතුමාගේ අපමණ වෙහෙසීම හා කැපවීමත් මා අගයකරමි.
එමෙන්ම මෙම සද්කාර්ය සඳහා වෙහෙස වූ, ඒ වෙනුවෙන් වෙර දරණ පිංවත් ඔබට මේ පිංබර අවස්ථාවේ ප්‍රණ්‍යානුමෝදනා කරමි.

When I joined in Sri Lanka Administrative Service, I had the opportunity of serving as Divisional Secretary of Bentota, I think that it was a special turning point in my life While serving as the Divisional Secretary of Bentota throughout seven years, I had the chance of meeting a person named brother, Cyril Rajapaksha. He expressed his willingness before me that he would like to hand over his house for elders home, which had given him shelter to live, that was how I came to get connected to him, I informed him that if he was really interested in running is as elders home, I said that I too could give him my assistance officially’
As a result of this discussion, which I had with him, an elders’ home was founded on 31st of March 2001 with five inmates of elders, by the name of Sugatha Elders ‘Home. By now, there are 85 inmates at this elders’ home.
This elders home had once won the 3rd place in Southern Province, thereby placing a step forward. I am happy immensely and honestly thankful to the Social Service Department of Southern Province, the Divisional Secretariat Office of Bentota, other government Institutions and Non-Government Organizations, and the Philanthropists and well-wishes and Donors for the continuous support and Co-operation in Numerous ways, thank you very much fao all of you.

මාගේ රාජ්‍ය පරිපාලන සේවයේ සුවිශේෂී සන්ධිස්ථානයක් වූයේ බෙන්තොට ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම්වරයා ලෙස සේවය කිරීමට අවස්ථාව ලැබීමයි. පුරා වසර හතක මාගේ රාජකාරි කාලය තුළ සිරිල් රාජපක්ෂ නම් වූ සහෘදයා මුණගැසිණි. එහිදී සිරිල් රාජපක්ෂයන් මාහට පවසා සිටියේ තම ජීවිතයට සෙවන දුන් සිය නිවස වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයක් සඳහා පරිත්‍යාගකිරීමට කැමති බවයි. එහිදී ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම්වරයා ලෙස මා ප්‍රකාශකර සිටියේ වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයක් ලෙස පවත්වාගෙන යාමට හැකි නම් එවන් වූ සද්කාර්ය සඳහා මාහට රාජකාරි වශයෙන් සහයක් ලබාදිය හැකි බවයි.
එම සාකච්ඡාවේ ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස මාගේ මැදිහත්වීමෙන් වර්ෂ 2001 මාර්තු මස 31 දින සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසය නමින් මෙම සමාජසේවා ආයතනය බිහිවිය. එදා වැඩිහිටියන් පස් දෙනෙකු ගෙන් ආරම්භ කරන ලද වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයේ අද වනවිට වැඩිහිටියන් 85දෙනෙකු කාරුණික රැකවරණය ලබමින් සිටී.
වර්තමානයේ දෙමහල් නිවාස සංකීර්ණයක් දක්වා සංවර්ධනය වූ සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසය දකුණු පළාත් සමාජසේවා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අනුග්‍රහකත්වයෙන් පවත්වන ලද තරගාවලියේ තෙවන ස්ථානය හිමිකරගැනීමට ද සමත්වීම සුවිශේෂ කරුණකි.
එමෙන්ම මේ වනවිටත්, බෙන්තොට ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කාර්යාලය, දකුණු පළාත් සමාජසේවා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව ඇතුළුව රාජ්‍ය සහ රාජ්‍ය නොවන සංවිධානවල, ප්‍රදේශ වාසීන් ගෙන් ලැබෙන අනුපමේය සහයෝගයත් සිහිපත් කරමින් සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසය තව තවත් ඉදිරියට ගමන්කිරීමට අවශ්‍ය ශක්තිය සහ ධෛර්ය ප්‍රර්ථනා කරමි.

Bentota Sugatha Elders’ Home and Social Service Institute which was started on the 31st of March 2001 in a small house in Bentota, with inmates of 5 elders, has risen to 3 two-storey buildings at present. There are 85 inmates in this elder home and they are all provided with all the facilities. Only a small amount Rs. 20/- is paid per day for inmates by the Government for the maintenance of our elder home.
Although most of the people who live around the elders’ home are engaged in tourism and there has been hardly any problem with regard to the maintenance of this. Institute during past, but as we find it rather difficult to maintain this elder home at present, you are all and honorably requested to join hands with us in supporting and assisting in order to maintain this social service.

බෙන්තොට සුගත වැඩිහිටි නිවාසය සහ සමාජසේවා ආයතනය 2001 මාර්තු මස 31 වන දින වැඩිහිටියන් තිදෙනෙකුගෙන් ආරම්භ කර, මේ වනවිට දෙමහල් ගොඩනැගිලි තුනක් සහ නේවාසික වැඩිහිටියන් අසූ පස් දෙනෙකු වෙනුවෙන් පහසුකම් සපයා තිබේ. එක් නේවාසික වැඩිහිටියෙකු සඳහා රජයෙන් ලබාදෙන්නේ දිනකට රුපියල් 20/- ක් වැනි සුළු මුදලකි. එම මුදල අප වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයේ නඩත්තු කටයුතු සඳහා ප්‍රමාණවත් නොවේ.
අප ආයතනය අවට ප්‍රදේශවාසීන් බහුතරයක් සිය ජීවන වෘත්තිය ලෙස සංචාරක කර්මාන්තය ආශ්‍රිත රැකියාවල නියුතුව සිටී. එහෙත් රටතුළ බවතින වත්මන් කොවිඩ් වසංගත තත්වය හමුවේ ඔවුන්ගේ ජීවන මාර්ග ද අහිමිවී තිබේ. මේ වනවිට ප්‍රදේශවාසීන්ගෙන් ලැබෙන දානමය, මූල්‍යමය පරිත්‍යාග සියල්ල නතරවී අති හෙයින් අප ආයතනයේ දෛනික කටයුතු පවත්වාගෙන යන්නේ ද ඉතා අසීරුතා මධ්‍යයේයි. මෙම සමාජ සත්කාර්ය පවත්වා ගෙනයාමට අප සමග අත්වැල් බැඳගන්නයි ගෞරවයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටිමි.
